Dear parents,

As you know, we recently collected in all reading books to enable us to carry out essential work on our scheme to ensure the books we are setting best match the reading level of our children. Staff have worked incredibly hard to complete this task but unfortunately it has taken longer than we had hoped. As we would be collecting reading books in for the Christmas holiday in the coming days anyway, (from experience we know that books can often get lost during this very busy time!) we will not be sending new books home this side of the Christmas break. We will, of course however, continue to read with children in school next week.

Over the next week and Christmas holidays, please enjoy time with your child and where possible enjoy sharing a range of stories and books with them. Children can also access activities to support their reading on Education City as well as books being available on the Oxford Owl website https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/

In addition to this, ‘Teach Your Monster to Read’ is an online reading programme designed to develop early reading skills and is currently free to use when accessed on a computer.

A new book will be allocated to every child next week ready for them to bring home on the first day of the Spring term.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best wishes
