Sports Premium Funding
Sports Premium Funding has been allocated to all schools to improve the quality of sport and PE provision in schools. Birches First School is determined that this will make a sustainable impact on the well being of pupils and on the long term delivery of high quality PE in school.
How will we be spending the Sports Premium funding:
2013-2014
Sports Premium Funding was used to introduce children to a range of new sports with coaches working in school alongside staff.
A specialist dance teacher was employed to work alongside staff to help develop their skills in the teaching of dance.
Additional games and PE equipment was purchased.
Funding was used to help support activities in our Healthy Schools Week.
The funding was also used to support transportation costs to local sports events.
2014-2015
During this academic year we aim to use the Sports Premium funding for a number of projects.
To provide high quality CPD for the teaching of gymnastics across the school.
To purchase equipment for use at lunchtime and secure storage.
Funding will be allocated to the development of outside areas, remarking the playground.
The school will invest in the Healthy Schools programme.
2015-2016
During this academic year we aim to use the Sport Premium for the following:
EYFS Outdoor Equipment.
High-Visibility Jackets for outdoor games and to promote walking to and from events.
Transport to local cluster sporting events.
Outdoor games equipment.
Lunchtime Sports Coaching developing Play Leaders.
New Lunchtime Running Club.
Dance Festival T Shirts and Coach.
Outdoor clothing for staff to encourage outdoor sporting activities all year round.
2017-2018 – Grant received: £17,490 (£10,202.50 – November 2017 £7,287.50 – June 2018)
Renewed playground markings to promote active play and learning.
Fine motor intervention and resources for Early Years Foundation Stage.
Specialist sessions for the development of gross motor skills.
CDP training for Pe and Sports Premium Leader.
CPD training for all teaching staff in delivering high quality lessons.
Scheme of work for Gymnastics.
Extra-curricular activities for all year groups using specialist sports coaches.
Coaching to support partitipation in competitions and tournaments.
Impact
To provide high quality provision and equipment for all children in the school. To develop the skills of staff across the school in the teaching of dance and gymnastics.
