Well, what better way to end the first half of our Spring term last week than with our Arts week celebrations! The children loved watching the Lion Dance during our Chinese New Year assembly and had lots of fun having a go at becoming the lion as part of their own dance! The creativity continued back in the classrooms throughout the week with each child making their own Chinese lantern and having a go at some different art techniques and styles inspired by Chinese art. I’m looking forward to seeing them all displayed around school soon. Thank you to Miss Law for her organisation of the week.
Another thank you to those of you who were able to join us for Parents Evening. We hope you enjoyed the opportunity to look in your child’s books and speak to class teachers about their learning. We appreciate the continued support of all our parents.
It was a busy end to the week with the school photographer in taking contemporary photos of the children who looked lovely in their own clothes. We hope you are pleased with the photos when they come home.
As we reach the end of our half term holiday, I hope you have had an enjoyable week and that the children are excited to return on Monday morning ready for another busy half term at Birches as we look forward to Easter. The first week back is Book Week in school – a reminder that on Thursday 1st March children can wear costumes and outfits inspired by this year’s theme of ‘Where The Wild Things Are’. (Pyjamas and onsies are allowed, as well as home made costumes for our more creative children and parents. Bought costumes are also allowed but please do not feel it is expected that parents buy a costume especially for this event.) During Book Week we hope lots of the children will be taking part in our sponsored reading event ‘The Birches Big Read’ with funds raised going towards a new reading den on the playground and new classroom reading area for our Nursery children. The children also have a music workshop to look forward to on Wednesday and our school book fair will be opening on Thursday 1st March after school. Have a good weekend, see you next week!
