Another week has drawn to a close and with it we say ‘goodbye’ to January! I think we all feel glad when February arrives and we start to look forward to the promise of some sunnier days and signs of Spring.
This week it has been lovely to spend a little more time in classrooms, sharing in the learning with the children. The day really is full of a range of engaging and exciting learning opportunities for the children to enjoy. Our Year 1 children enjoyed a class trip to Warwick Castle this week. This trip links with their topic of Brilliant Britain which has led to lots of learning about castles and the history of our Kings and Queens. I was delighted to have feedback from all the staff on the trip who said that the children were absolutely wonderful all day! The coach driver commented on their behaviour during the journey and they even earned themselves an extra workshop at the end of the day as a member of Warwick Castle staff spotted them being so well behaved during the day. Well done Year 1 for being such amazing representatives of our school! We are very proud of you.
We are also proud of our school football team who represented Birches against St Nics and Lane Green at Codsall High School on Thursday. The team played brilliantly and even secured a 2-1 win! Thank you to staff and parents who supported this event.
Our Year 3 children have been learning about seed dispersal in Science this week and created paper helicopters to help them explore and understand how some seeds are dispersed by the wind. A wonderful, active, hands on lesson!
Next week Year 1 have their Kings and Queens Sparkle Day to look forward to and Year 3 and 4 will be watching a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed by the Young Shakespeare Company. Another week with lots to look forward to!
Best wishes,
Mrs Ferretti
